I don’t think the question is whether it’s right for same-sex couples to have the right to get married but rather why the government is involved with marriage at all? Why does anyone have to pay for a marriage certificate? For those that say it prohibits rights to things like property, insurance, life and medical decisions, I ask why can’t two friends have the same rights as a married couple gay, straight or otherwise?
